Description

Oil sands stakeholders, TransCanada Corp. and Phoenix Energy Holdings Ltd., are prposing to build the $3- billion Grand Rapids pipeline to transport blended bitument from Fort McMurray to the Edmonton area. However, the project is being reviewed by provincial regulators and is being challenged by landowners, environmentalists, and the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation for being fast-tracked without proper environmental assessment. The proposed Grand Rapids pipeline is essential to provide additional supply for the Keystonde XL and Energy East projects.
