Fort McMurray’s new airport terminal a gateway to Alberta's oil sands- The Globe and Mail
Description

To accommodate the increasing number of workers and residents in the Fort McMurray are, the local airport has been expanded to five times its original size. The expansion of the airport is a direct reflection of the rapid growth of the oil sands industry; the oil sands production is expected to reach 4.5 million barrels a day by 2025, a significant increase from the 1.8 million barrels a day in 2012. With the growing industry, the labour shortage is acutely felt in the community.
