Ewart: Rising costs lower oilsands outlook- Postmedia Network Inc.
The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers released its annual forecast of oil production. According to CAPP, “Production from the oilsands is now forecast to reach 4.8 million barrels a day in 2030 - down from 5.2 million in CAPP's forecast last year.” The decline is attributed to rising costs of oil production and transportation. To encourage foreign investment in the oil sands, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has refused to enforce environmental regulations that would harm the oil sands industry.
