B.C. firm has $10B plan to refine oilsands for Asia- CBC
Description

Vancouver-based Pacific Future Energy Corp. has pitched proposals to the Canadian government regarding building a $10-billion oil sands refinery in B.C. Crude oil from Alberta’s oil sands would be shipped by rail to the “near zero net carbon” refinery, and then shipped to Asia. This is said to be the most ecofriendly proposed refinery ever; it would significantly reduce environmental damage in the case of oil spills when shipping oil across oceans and the refinery will reuse waste products. The company has also been in contact with First Nations groups and plans to involve them greatly in their plans. The refinery’s production would benefit from having the Northern Gateway pipeline.
