Concordia University’s 2013 Climate Change Technology Conference included a presentation on The Role of Oil Sands Cogeneration in the 2030 Alberta Generation Mixture. The presentation stressed the oil sands sector’s impact on the environment by contributing 21% of Alberta’s GHG emissions. It also discussed energy production with oil and different options available as well as the environmental impacts of each option. Minimizing negative environmental impacts is argued to increase economic benefits.
