City of Kingston and Climate Change, Ask-an-Expert
Description

Daniel Shipp — has expertise on climate change and the City of Kingston — is available through ask-an-expert for the Climate Change in My Municipality, an Inquiry.
Mr Shipp is the Coordinator of Sustainability Initiatives for the City of Kingston. A key focus of his work is climate change impacts and the mitigation and adaptation measures required to address a changing climate; some of the City’s initiatives include:
- programs to reduce impacts from severe and changing weather patterns like hotter and drier summers, higher intensity rainfall events, warmer winters, icing conditions, and new types of pests and diseases,
- a Greenhouse Gas Emissions reduction program,
- supporting the development of renewable energy,
- and the Kingston Climate Action plan
In developing the Climate Action Plan, the City produced Climate Change and Kingston: The Changing Climate, Greenhouse Gases, Mitigation and Adaptation. This powerpoint examines trends in the climate, how this will impact the City and the adaptation and mitigation measures required.
